To Vincent, With Love

In To Vincent, with Love, I have inserted my own image into video footage from the film "Buffalo 66" starring actor Vincent Gallo, implying a romantic relationship between us. The soundtrack is composed of my voice similarly inserted into melodies sung by Vincent Gallo. We exchange furtive glances, yet the desire remains unconsummated, looping infinitely as the voices too remain unjoined. The cinematic devices of voice and gaze exaggerate the drama and discomfort.
This is a conceptual continuation of my 2003 web and DVD project, Me and Billy Bob. By exhibiting romantic interest in a younger and "better looking" actor, I hoped to make Billy Bob jealous. I make occasional eye contact with the camera, serving as Billy Bob's watchful eye.
in installation, the room is painted brown, Gallo's favourite colour, and the four videos play on 4 monitors - 1 on each wall.
